Here's the latest. A texture has been added to the outer background black, while the gradirent is preserved. The letters, and the thistle elements have been given a similar rough metallic look, while the elegant knotwork and banner have stayed more polished. The tartan has been recreated, this time with a fabric weave that follows the contour and folds of the fabric. It feels though you're looking through te drumhead to the tartan below, with the jeweled thistle nicely featured. Your pre-finished file is at the bottom.
